WOW Scotland isn’t just a business. It’s our opportunity to share the beauty of the Highlands with the whole world.

Owned and managed by husband and wife, Gordon and Kay Pearson, we offer the most exciting itineraries, knowledgeable guides and comfortable vehicles in the region. But we also offer something else. As well as all the famous sights, we pride ourselves on showing our guests otherwise undiscovered local gems. In short, we take you to all the places we take our friends when they come to visit. It means that a tour with us is much more than an Instagram-friendly trip – it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

The call of the Highlands

We are both natives of the North of Scotland. We lived in central Scotland and spent three years in Vienna before the call of our homeland drew us back to the Highlands. We founded WOW Scotland in 2010 and are proud to be number one on TripAdvisor and 5-star rated by Visit Scotland.

Just as important to us as giving every one of our guests an unforgettable experience is our opportunity to support the fragile local economy and do our bit to protect our natural surroundings. Some of the ways in which we do this are by working with the best local businesses, employing locally and picking up litter on our tours.

Our Story

2010

Gordon and Kay move back from Vienna and WOW Scotland is founded as a hiking tour company. By August we’d reached number 1 on TripAdvisor, an accolade we’ve held pretty much every since.

2011

We buy our first minibus and start a wider variety of sightseeing and adventure tours. Our logo also makes a Hollywood Cameo in the film Johny English Reborn!

2012

We start running our first small shore tours from Invergordon. Demand is so great that we start running our first coach tours from the port in August.

2013

Gordon wins the Young Ambassador of the Year award at the prestigious Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards.

2014

We begin operating the first scheduled mini-coach tour from Inverness to visit Skye’s Trotternish Peninsula (no day tours to Skye from Inverness existed before now!). Kay and Gordon’s first child Struan arrives on the scene too!

2015

We win again at the HITA Awards – this time it’s in the “Tourism Everyone’s Busines” category – and we are inducted into TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.

2016

Rob Carr joins the team and we gain our Visit Scotland 5 star tour status! This year we are finalists in both the Highland Business Awards and the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards.

2017

We reach the milestone of 1000 reviews on TripAdvisor (and donate £1000 to local charities to mark this moment). WOW baby two – Brodie – also arrives on the scene.

2018

After extensive research, visits and road testing we purchase our very first mini-coach.

2019

We purchase our second new mini-coach and launch our day tour to Orkney; the only tour to the island to operate from Inverness outside of the peak season.

2020

Coronavirus sends travel and tourism into turmoil. We look after our customers and refund everyone that asks, although many hold their bookings for the future and help us weather the storm.

2021

It’s another rocky year for the global travel industry. However, our commitment to keep going and keep innovating – no matter what – enables us to end the year on a more positive note. Our team is smaller but stronger, with the addition of guiding legend Andrew Jones.

2022

Travel is back, and we have our best year ever! This is recognised by the Federation for Small Businesses, who invite Gordon and Kay to meet Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. We now have over 2000 TripAdvisor reviews, and have been rated by VisitScotland as a 5 star tour operator every year since 2016.

2023

We go back to our roots, introducing a brand new hiking tour! This enables guests to explore the wonder of Skye, but at a more relaxed pace.
