The Inverness Historical Walking Tour
10,000 years of history in 60 minutes!
Inverness has a rich history which is brought to life in this fascinating tour. This tour starts at the end the end of the last ice age and brings you through to the present day via Mesolothic settlers, a tsunami and earthquakes, Pictish Kings, Christian missionaries, power hungry clan chiefs, witchcraft, phropecies, battles, deceit, murder and corruption – and that’s just for starters! This tour explores the death of Gaelic and Flemish and the rise of Polish, the Highland Clearances, Culloden, Cromwell’s Commonwealth Republic, the Reformation and lots, lots more. We’ll also show you some fascinating (and sometimes gruesome) places which many locals don’t even know about including a Church used for executions and the building where the story of the Loch Ness monster began! With some great local stories thrown in to boot – this really is the best way to get acquainted with Inverness!
