Skye’s unique combination of abundant wildlife, rich heritage, enthralling legends and myths, dramatic landscapes, wild coastlines, spectacular mountains and windswept beaches produce a mystical magic that draws visitors from all over the world. This tour is designed to ensure that you see all of the most popular sites on Skye but, in true WOW style, we will do our best to show you some less-visited places too (believe it or not, there are still plenty of these!). It is impossible to really ‘do’ Skye in one day, so take our advice and spend at least two days in this world class destination!

Tour Itinerary
This tour starts by driving along Loch Ness (there is always a chance of seeing the elusive Nessie en-route) to Invermoriston. We then head up through Glen Moriston, passing Loch Cluanie, and the Cluanie hydroelectric dam, before heading down into Glenshiel where we will take in a panoramic view of the awe-inspiring Five Sisters of Kintail. At the end of the Glen we arrive on the West Coast which we follow round for a view of the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.
The tour then heads over the Skye Bridge (where you will get fabulous views of the island on a clear day) to Kyleakin – previously a bustling ferry port before the bridge was built. We will then commence our tour of the island by visiting the impressive mountain range of the Cuillins (if it is a nice day we may persuade you to go for a dip in the crystal clear, aqua blue water of the Fairy Pools) before heading to the Dun Beag Brochs, then over to Neist Point – setting for the new Keanu Reeves film – Ronin 47.
We will finish our day by driving up the East coast, passing sleepy villages, whitewashed cottages and sandy beaches on the way. After a short time we will arrive in Portree, the island’s bustling fishing port and cultural centre which counts itself as the largest town on Skye.
Accommodation Options – Day 1
There is a wide range of accommodation in Skye, ranging from cosy B & Bs to country house hotels. We would suggest that you stay overnight in either Portree or Dunvegan, and our recommendation to you will depend on what you would like to do in the evening – there are a wide array of eating options on the island, from traditional fish and chips in the Caledonian Cafe in Portree..to the Michelin-starred Kinloch Lodge and the world-renowned The Three Chimneys restaurant. Both villages also have a selection of pubs, so for fans of whisky, ale and traditional music we will do our best to find you some fantastic entertainment for your night on the island!
WOW Tip
One of our favourite places to stay on the island is Skeabost Country House Hotel, on the shores of Loch Snizort. This place, with its roaring log fires and traditional Highland decor, simply oozes rustic celtic charm, yet at a reasonable price.
Day 2
On day two we will push on up the Trotternish Peninsula to admire first the Old Man of Storr, then the famous Kilt Rock – a sea cliff which is said to resemble..yes, you guessed it, the traditional Highland kilt. We will also drive past the awesome Quiraing which, on a misty day, almost seems somehow supernatural….
From here we head over to the West coast of the island, passing through the Fairy Glen, which is a delightful yet somehow bizarre landscape of grassy cone-shaped hills; a beautiful spot on a sunny day. As we complete our loop back to Portree you can just sit back and enjoy the scenery whilst your guide regales you with tales of the island (or his vast selection of Scottish music, whichever you prefer!) We then head back towards Kyleakin, stopping at Slighachan for a world-class view of the Black and Red Cuillins, then its back over the Skye Bridge..to start our journey home (although that undersells it a bit, as the journey is also pretty impressive, even if we do say so ourselves!)
We will take a detour on the way back through the coastal village of Plockton (setting for the TV-series Macbeth), before driving to Lochcarron and Achnasheen then through the sleepy villages of Contin and Garve, returning to Inverness over the Kessock Bridge.
