The Battle of Culloden was the last pitched battle fought on British soil. It was the final, bloody confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising and it happened just outside of Inverness. We will have time to visit the battlefield and find out all about the events of April 16th 1746. Gordon will be showing you some of the weapons that the Jacobite Highlanders used against the British and you will have a chance to pose for photos and hold the weapons yourself!

Entrance to the Battlefield is free of charge & a short tour will be provided but please note that we will not visit the exhibition centre

A tour round Clava CairnsClava Cairns

Clava Cairns is an exceptionally well preserved group of prehistoric burial cairns which were built around 4000 years ago. This Bronze Age cemetery has a whole range of interesting historical structures to explore such as passage graves, ring cairns, a kerb cairn, and standing stones.

Entrance to Clava Cairns is free of charge

Cawdor Castle and GardensCawdor Castle

Cawdor Castle is perhaps best known as the home of Macbeth in Shakespeare’s famous ‘Scottish Play’.  However, despite the castle being built almost 100 years after the real Macbeth died, the castle is well worth a visit and bills itself as Scotland’s most romantic castle. The castle dates from 1374 and is still lived in to this day by the Dowager Lady Cawdor who kindly moves out in the summer to let visitors look around her home. As well as an impressive interior the castle also boasts impressive grounds. We will spend 1.5hours here to give you the ample time to look around and soak up the atmosphere. After exploring the castle and grounds there is a wonderful café/restaurant where you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea and a scone! Many of our customers have asked us why we visit Cawdor Castle as opposed to Urquhart Castle – this useful blog will provide the answer for you!

Entrance to Cawdor Castle in included in the tour price.

A wonderful view of Loch Ness on a WOW Scotland tourLoch Ness

We will drive to the banks of Loch Ness to get the finest available view of this world-famous attraction.  Here you may also have the opportunity to meet legendary Nessie Hunter Steve Feltham (that’s if he’s not out hunting Nessie at the time!). We will spend 30 minutes here at it is a great location to enjoy a picnic (there will be an opportunity to buy a sandwich ‘to go’ from Cawdor Castle. There is also a great pub here so a chance for a beer, whisky, coffee or soft drink too!
