This tour starts off in Inverness before heading down the Great Glen and up into the hills above Loch Ness to Blackfold Croft, where we get a glimpse at what Highland life in a remote location is life in the 21st Century (and if we are lucky we get invited in for tea and coffee by my granny!). We follow the road along to Abriachan where we pass many working crofts (some where gaelic is still spoken) before heading to the forest to see a reproction of a bronze age hut. Whilst there, there is also a chance to explore a fantastic tree house which is great fun for young and old alike!T
Our tour then heads down to Urquhart Castle, where you have the chance to visit one of Scotland’s most famous and beautiful attractions. We then head down Glen Urquhart and visit Corrimony Cairns before heading up Glen Affric for a hike through the forest and a picnic at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Glen. The tour then heads to the wonderful Plodda Falls where there is also a chance to explore the little-known ruins of a once grand manion plus a secret waterall!
The tour then heads down to Beauly where we visit the 700 year old Beauly Prior. For whisky lovers we can make a detour to the Glen Ord visitor centre for a complimentary dram or you can take a tour and find out all about the production process (this is one of the best whisky distillery tours around!). Our tour then takes us to Clootie Well, an area of Celtic Pilgramage which is still used to this day. We round off the day with a visit to Fortrose and it’s ruined cathedral and also visit Channory Point, one of the top places in Europe to view dolphins!
